Description
Asmat, Papua, New Guinea.
Rectangular shield wooden carved in relief with the figure of the ancestor (Kave) on the
top, and colored with red ochra, lime and charcoal; on the perimeter small frond of sago.
The symbol represent the male bone nose ornament, called bipane.
Mangrove wood.
